WHAT IS A 5X5?
A 5x5 is a 5 inch by 5 inch block of wood (generously donated by The Home Depot) that we invite artists and the community to create a lovely piece of artwork on. 3D pieces are accepted as well within a 5x5x5 inch size. Wood blocks are provided by Work At 26 and can be picked up at our location.
HOW DO I DONATE A 5X5?
You can pick up blocks at Work At 26 in 26 Garden Center, Suite 4, Broomfield, and the drop-off location for submissions are in the same location. Pieces need to be submitted for the auction by 7pm August 22nd. We will have extended drop-off times
Thursday August 1st 5:00pm - 6:00pm
Thursday August 8th 5:00pm - 6:00pm
Thursday August 15th 5:00pm - 6:00pm
Thursday August 22nd 5:00pm - 7:00pm
WHAT CAN I MAKE ON MY 5X5?
Anything, thought we kindly ask you to refrain from pieces involving nudity, gore, or profanity for this event. You can paint, draw, make a collage, use fabric pieces, or even create a 3-dimensional piece that is 5x5x5 inches to donate to the auction!
CAN I MAKE MORE THAN ONE 5X5 TO DONATE FOR THE EVENT?
Absolutely! We only ask that you only take the number of blocks of wood that you will definitely use for your pieces, as we have a limited donated supply provided by The Home Depot.
CAN I MAKE A PIECE WITHOUT THE PROVIDED BLOCK OF WOOD?
Please use the provided blocks as the starting base. You can pick up your block(s) at Work At 26 in 26 Garden Center, Suite 4 Broomfield. With 3D pieces, we request that you still grab a block and submit it with your work. It does not have to be attached to the artwork itself.
DO THE BACKS OF THE PIECES NEED HARDWARE FOR HANGING?
The backs do not need hardware for hanging, unless the artist would like to add it on to make it easier for the purchaser to display. For the art auction itself, the pieces will all be lying flat on tables.
WHEN IS THE 5X5 ART AUCTION?
The 5x5 Art Auction will be Friday August 23rd from 5:30pm - 8:30pm at Work At 26, at 26 Garden Center, Suite 4 in Broomfield. Entry to the event is free.
